Being a Real Estate agent takes a certain kind of person. It’s not a profession meant for everyone. You have to be hard-working. You have to be motivated. You have to be persuasive and compassionate.

Being a real estate agent means you’re working long hours, you’re spending a lot of time in your car or at other people’s homes, you’re trying to communicate with past clients and prospects on a regular basis – plus more. It’s a lot to juggle.

But there are advantages to being an agent. If you’ve ever questioned whether you truly belong in this competitive, exciting industry, it’s time to set your mind at ease. Here are the signs you are meant to be a real estate agent.

You don’t mind using your passenger seat as a desk.

As an agent, you spend a lot of time in your vehicle. That’s inevitable. So if you’re okay with spending a good chunk of time driving from showing to showing with listings and other materials piled high in your front seat, this is the right profession for you.

You like to stay busy and can’t stand being bored.

There’s a misconception that agents make good money while doing very little. You know that’s far from the truth. agents may have flexible schedules, but they definitely stay busy. Marketing themselves is just one aspect they have to worry about in addition to actually showing and selling properties. Prospecting, researching, negotiating, presenting and keeping in touch are time consuming tasks!

You genuinely enjoy discovering and listing new properties.

Before you became a real estate agent, did you love to go to open houses and browse 100s of  listings? Some people genuinely enjoy checking out properties they’ve never seen before, even if they have no reason to do so. That’s a clear cut sign you belong in the real estate industry.

Your patience levels are through the roof.

Agents have to deal with people. A lot. If you don’t have patience, it’s hard to work with clients and prospects who expect you to work around their schedules and cater to their every need throughout the home-buying process. You have to be willing to give, give, and give before you can take a real estate sale. Without patience, that becomes difficult.

You’re a real estate budgeting pro.

Sometimes Real Estae agents go months without a paycheck. While that’s not ideal, it can happen. Therefore, you have to be good at budgeting your finances if you want to be successful as an agent. If you can keep your budget stable over the long-term, this commission-only business is a perfect fit.

You have a love for technology. 

Email. Mobile devices. CRMs Websites. You need it all to be a successful real estate agent, but it can also be overwhelming. That’s understandable. If you know you need technology to get by on a day-to-day basisyou belong in this business. It doesn’t mean you have to be a technology expert, there are lots of resources available to help you along the way. But leveraging technology is a powerful way to save time and streamline your real estate tasks.

You probably love your job as a real estate agent. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to make it easier.
